BEE READY
HORNE ACRES FARM has been awarded a $350 grant to help fund a pollinator patch for the Lawns to Legumes program funded through the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF) in which the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) is in partnership with Blue Thumb to oversee the projects success.

Final plans for our pollinator garden must be placed by July of 2022 to be accepted by the BWSR board of directors and Blue Thumb for approval. We have applied for this grant since they started offering applications for it in 2019. We are honored to be awarded this grant for the 2022 year. We anticipate a three year journey to establish our pollinator acres to help promote our the health and establishment of habitat and to focus on protecting the endangered rusty patched bumble bee, the Minnesota state bee. We also want to establish a diverse supply of food for our honey bee's on the farm while balancing the ecosystem equally.
